Diana in Prague

As you know, I was very spoilt and was taken on a trip to Prague from the boyfriend for my birthday. It is absolutely beautiful, although we must have come across as quite rude! I didn't even manage to work out how to say as little as 'Hi' in Czech, let alone 'thank you'. The trick is, whatever you are asking for, (if it is something like a name, i.e. 'Red Bull.' You have to put on a slight accent to the 'Bull', and generally, they understand. Very rude of us I know, but there is no hope in trying to learn Czech. Possibly a bit of research might have been handy before flying though. The other awful thing about it was the prices. I was expecting shopping to be cheap as chips but NOPE. H&M (bearing in mind I seem to know the prices of everything I remotely like in that shop) was almost twice the price as over here. Rip.Off. Needless to say I did not buy anything. Rather upsetting. But no, on a serious note it is a beautiful city, and everyone seemed very well-spirited, with lots of music and theatrical characters roaming the streets. Plus the architecture is amazing. Nothing like the plain, grey stone buildings we seem to adore over here. So here are a few snaps from Diana. First shot. I thought they weren't too bad. I did take more but I don't want to bore you. Tbh I never like looking at pictures of buildings if I have no idea what they are. Unless the photography/ landscape is amazing, but sadly to say mine are not that impressive. Ohh and one last tip; If you go, be aware that there is not a ticket guard on the trams and the drivers do not sell tickets. So yes, as we shamefully learnt, you have to purchase your ticket, from somewhere of which I am not so sure of, BEFORE you board the tram. All I can say is the locals must be highly trustworthy.

There has been a serious lack of blogging recently, I apologise. I have been non-stop busy moving back home (:. YESS it is now the Easter holidays, which means I am off to Prague and there is only 1 week left of Uni afterwards. The summer is drawing ever so close. Here's a week in photos. Not very exciting though I have to say. 1) My sweet & sour chicken. Cooked from scratch I would like to add. 2) Cheeky photoshoot. ThankssomuchGeorge&Danielle. LIFESAVERS! 3) Counting my penny jar to take to Prague. £20!!Bearing in mind I have been saving these since school. Sad times to get rid, but needs be. 4) Playsuit I bought. Primark. 5) Boarding passes & passports ready to go. EXCITEDMUCH. 6) My new shelves (: (Had NO room when I moved my stuff back from uni. 7) Just half of what I cleared out. (Trying to create some room.) 8) WHITE foundation. Good ol' Bazza.M. Yes I am fed up of having to wear 'orange' foundation, because with my lack of pennies, I cannot find a foundation to match my skin tone. Time for a bit of homemade blending. Plus; (which I didn't take a pic of.) Happy Mothers Day to my beautiful Mumma.

I always laugh at the bf when he gets almost excited about buying a new DIY gadget, and I most definitely sulk when I get dragged round B&Q (apart from the huge stores that I can get lots off wallpaper samples & colour swatches from), but, when he sent me this I saw screws in a completely new light.
Maybe it is possible that they can be exciting.

This work, by Andrew Myres from Orange County, uses thousands of screw to create these incredible portraits.

He has managed to sell five works for £5,500, although I don't think that quite covered the cost of making them.

Amazing all the same.

To's & Fro's

I seem to have been non-stop busy recently. I can't actually state why as I seem to be at a dead end with our new project and I can't say I have done much this week apart from wondering around town window shopping.

1) Anyway, I am a styling student, and that's where I want to pursue my career, but this project is much more of a challenge for me. It's make up based and we have to create a new ad campaign for Illamasqua. It's exciting, don't get me wrong, but I just have no inspiration.
I find inspiration absolutely everywhere usually, and I find ideas just pop into my head. But with this project, it just is not happening.
I think I have been looking too hard.
Well, that's a lie. I have looked at many things from Bohemian style to the Ballet Russe & 'beauty'. Textures, people, the list could still go on. I just can't interpret these into purely a make up look. Clothing with make up & hair to enhance a look is no problem, but a make up based ad. The near impossible.
Anyway, I'll keep going & I expect an idea will just come to me. Never know I could decide to change my career aspirations to a make up artist. I joke. If I do ever decide on a theme, I'll be sure to upload some pictures. Until then I'm going to try to concentrate on how I would create an outfit and then go onto the make up. Maybe, hopefully, a new angle of thinking will help. Enough about that said.

2) More work. I had to choose between dissertation and practise or just a dissertation to do next year. I have finally decided, I think, (as you can see I'm a bit indecisive at the moment), I will do the standard dissertation. I figured I would need a higher word count to really develop my text. I can always do a mini project of my own to create some images.

3) A lack of picture taking. Usually I am always taking pictures of something, or messing around on my camera. I have just come to the realisation that I haven't done this for a while. Time to get the camera out! I will apologise now for the non-existent images in this post. I hate having nothing pretty to look at aswel.

4) During my 'window shopping' trip to town, I stumbled upon a charity shop just up the road from my house that I never knew existed. I found a lovely green blouse for £5 which I will upload a picture of very soon. Bargain.

5) I am very excited to go home this weekend, sad as it may be, but we have finally got a new bathroom & I can't wait to see it. There most probably won't be an image of this as I don't think anyone else in the world is interested in my new bathroom apart from me.

6) I have been trying to eat healthily during the week. This may sounds silly as on the weekend I am allowing myself to eat anything and everything, but I feel my chocolate and pudding addiction is becoming out of control. Last week went well, but this week I think I have consumed twice as much crap as I usually would have done. Fail. Time for a healthier me to prove to myself I do have some will power!

7) Saw 'Hall Pass' the other day. I recommend it if you just want a light-hearted comedy.

8) Thinking about the summer. I actually don't feel like the Uni holiday's are actually a holiday. I much more enjoy doing my course & something I love. Time to get more work experience & create some mini-projects of my own this year I think.

9) And finally I go to Prague in less than a month :). Can't tell you how excited I am. My lovely boyfriend (Pete) & my parents bought me and him a trip there for 3 days. Très excitée!

10) I had to add something else to make an even number. I will use this to apologise again for the non-pictures & actually for the post. I never usually write about myself, unless expressing my opinion etc, but as you have probably gathered, I have hit a minor creative-block. When it's passed there will be something more interesting to read, I promise.

3 Things. Ooh H&M

So here is 3 things from H&M that I actually really want!
Normally I'm not too fussed on H&M, apart from when I am completely skint and am craving something new to wear.
I do always love their magazine though(as in the layout etc), but I'm getting frustrated as a lot of the stuff in there isn't even in the shop yet. It probably never is when the magazine first comes out but I don't go there too often so I wouldn't know.
For the record, I am not in the slightest bit patient.

The thing I absolutely LOVEE is the shorts. (As you can see I have put a * next to the things I want). I havn't quite worked out how to wear these, as they appear to be quite short & above all see-through. I havn't worked out how I can afford anything at the moment yet either, but hey.
I have also included some pictures I absolutely luurrrvvee that I have found recently. Fab inspiration.
Okay, so when I FINALLY get these items I will post a look. Until then I will be not-so-patiently waiting.

Today's outfit

Today's outfit consists of Topshop denim shorts (never actually worn these before), brown knit cardi made by my Grandma, a velvet top from Primark & my Topshop cape to tackle those winds.Kind of feel a bit bleurgh in this today, but I think that is just because I nearly always wear dresses/skirts. Bit of a change for me, although I have found my style changing slightly recently.
P.s, the cape didn't actually protect me from the winds. It is more of a wind tunnel, but at least it looks good. I have to say though, I am getting relatively bored of my whole wardrobe, inc this cape. I spent nearly £100 on it and absolutely LOVED it, but now the phase has gone. It also didn't help that half the country had it so there was no escaping seeing it round when not even wearing it. Since the sun was shining I just wanted a change today. The sun seems to have strange effects on people. Probably because we never see it!
Ohh, excuse the dirty washing basket too

Brunette is the new Blonde?!

I read an article the other day, (don't ask me where, I really am struggling to remember), but apparently brunette is the new blonde for fall 11/12!?

Firstly I don't know that blonde is the 'in' thing right now, I can't say I have noticed EVERYONE being blonde, and secondly I am NOT prepared to mess with the colour of my hair.
Yes I know it is ages away, but even without any psychic powers, I can tell you now I will definitely still be blonde.
I have considered many a time dying my hair brunette, or even back to my natural colour (red), but I have chickened out every time. I just can't take the risk that I will want to be blonde again, and it will take forever and a day to get me back to where I am now. Be happy with what you've got is my motto. You know some people just have their signature thing...Well I think being blonde for the foreseeable future is mine. Just the way it is.
I wish I could remember where I read this, and how they justified what they were saying but there is no hope. Recently, I have been struggling to remember what I did the day before, but if I do find it again I shall upload some picture proof and some more justification.
We shall see though. Prepare to see more brunettes round. (Apparently)
